LA Animal Services Announces Short Term Foster Program

New program will allow short term fostering for adoptable dogs and cats, ranging from a few hours to a couple of weeks.

Los Angeles, November 13, 2019 – LA Animal Services is excited to announce the launch of the Short Term Foster Program, which will allow the public to foster companion animals for a few hours via a Furry Field Trip, or up to a few weeks, providing dogs and cats  with additional socialization and a better chance for adoption. This program’s launch coincides with The Foster Express Challenge presented by Maddie’s Fund®, which will be awarding $55,000 in grants to participating organizations across the United States.

“Short term fostering not only helps our adoptable animals available at our six LA Animal Services Centers, it also helps provide some much needed space for our centers,” said LA Animal Services General Manager Brenda Barnette. “Even if you only spend a few hours with one of our pets on a Furry Field Trip, the socialization and love that you provide can make a huge difference in helping companion animals find loving homes.”

The challenge is effective now through January 10, 2020, and LA Animal Services is encouraging the public to participate. To learn more about fostering please visit
