Big Dog Walk for Life & Shelter Clean-up
LA Animal Services is calling on Angelenos to help make a BIG difference on Saturday, June 22, 2024. All six LA Animal Centers are participating in the first Big Dog Walk for Life & Shelter Clean Up event. From 8am to 12 Noon, volunteers and the public can visit the Animal Services Center of their choice and take a big dog out for a walk, or help by cleaning dog kennels while our canine friends are out on a walk.
Dogs will be walked on set routes and each dog walker will be provided with supplies and information on the dog they are paired with.
Please do not bring your own dogs, there will be plenty of dogs available to walk.
- Sign-up and RSVP today at laanimalservices.com/June22RSVP
- Once your response has been submitted, you’ll be signed up to receive emails leading up to the event.
- Participants will need to complete a one-day volunteer form. To save time, please print out and fill out the one day volunteer form by clicking here.
- To save time, please upload a photo or scan of the signed form by clicking here before the event. We will have forms available day of if you do not have access to a printer.
- Spread the word! We want to bring the community together and have an amazing turn out at all six locations.
This event will have two groups: big dog walkers and shelter cleaners.
The big dog walkers will be assigned a big dog (35 lbs. and over), which they will take on a designated walk for a few hours.
While these big dogs are out on their walk, the shelter cleaners will help by cleaning dog kennels so our canine friends return to a clean kennel.
You must sign up by going to laanimalservices.com/June22RSVP and filling out a one day volunteer waiver. (To save time, click here to print out and complete the waiver ahead of the event and submit the signed waiver online here, or bring it with you on Saturday, June 22, 2024.)
We ask that all participants for the event:
- Wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing:
- T-shirts (no tank tops)
- Long pants (no shorts)
- Wear closed-toe shoes:
- If you will be walking a big dog, wear shoes with good support and traction/rubber bottoms, like athletic shoes;
- If you will be cleaning a dog kennel, wear closed toe-shoes with good traction or rubber boots because your shoes will get wet.
- Wear sunscreen, hats and sunglasses to prevent sunburn.
- Bring water to stay hydrated.
