On January 24, 2024, the Los Angeles City Council approved an ordinance (LAMC 53.76) that certain establishments, including pet stores, dog kennels, cat kennels, privately owned dog parks, or veterinary care facilities must post a notice of important pet laws in their place of business.

The sign must be at least 8 1/2 inches by 11 inches in size and placed in a prominent place that is easily viewable by members of the public. The violation of any of these pet laws may result in fines or the loss of a person's ability to have a pet.
