LA Animal Services Celebrates National Kitten Day With Waived Adoption Fees this Weekend
07/07/2023

Los Angeles, July 7, 2023 – LA Animal Services is waiving all adoption fees this Saturday and Sunday, July 8th and 9th in recognition of National Kitten Day on Monday, July 10, thanks to a generous grant from Petco Love. National Kitten Day celebrates the joy that cats and kittens bring to our lives and also raises awareness of "Kitten Season" the time of year, usually during Spring and Summer, when an enormous influx of kittens enter animal shelters. National Kitten Day also provides an opportunity to create further awareness of how spaying and neutering dogs and cats can significantly reduce homeless animal populations.

“Our Centers are bursting at the seams with pets who are ready to be a part of your family, or join your household temporarily as a foster friend,” said Staycee Dains, General Manager for LA Animal Services. “Dogs and cats adopted from our six shelters join their new homes already spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and licensed.”

Pet adopters will receive a Petco flyer with discounts to help make their pet adoption a success; and a VCA Healthy Start Certificate, which provides up to $250 of follow up veterinary care within the first 14 days of adoption. In addition, canine companions adopted from LA Animal Services are also eligible for free dog training classes at the Paws for Life K9 Rescue People & Pet Innovation Center in Mission Hills, CA. Contact Info@pawsforlifek9.org for more details. You can view the wonderful dogs, cats, rabbits, and pocket pets who are available for adoption by going to laanimalservices.com/adopt.

Options to Surrendering a Pet

Please reconsider surrendering your pet to a shelter as our six shelters continue to operate at critical capacity. LA Animal Services offers alternative solutions to help keep pets and families together, that include Safety Net Foster, Home to Home, Pet Food Pantry, and helpful resource guides. We also work closely with intervention groups who will provide assistance with pet retention. If relinquishing your pet is the only option, appointments are required by calling 888-452-7381. Sick or injured animals will be admitted without an appointment.

The six LA Animal Services Centers are open Tuesday through Friday from 8am to 5pm and Saturday and Sunday, from 11am to 5pm. Centers are closed Mondays and City-observed holidays. For more information about LA Animal Services, visit: laanimalservices.com.
